Today's Reading Luke 22.47-71
Luke 22 with Commentaries, verse by verse
In Luke 22.47-52; Matthew 26.47-56; Mark 14.43-50; John 18.3-11, Jesus was arrested. It is interesting that Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard and the elders in verse 53….But this is your hour-when darkness reigns.
Peter disowns Jesus
Luke 22.55-62; Matthew 26.69-75; Mark 14.66-72; John 18.16, 25-27
The all-confident rash Peter became a coward when a servant girl and two other individual claimed that Peter was with Jesus. Each time, his language became stronger form the other Gospels. Let us not be too hard on Peter, what would you have done in this situation. It is very easy to say that I will follow and will die for Jesus but when the rubber meets the road and the situation is stark and real what would you do. This is why we need to pray that we wuld have the strenght and courage to stand up for Jesus.
The Soldiers mock Jesus
Luke 22.63-65; Matthew 26.67-68; Mark 14.65; John 18.22-23
